Digital Gujarat Portal


The State Government of Gujarat has started the Digital Gujarat Portal for providing online services for the citizens of the state. Through this online portal, the state government provides a total number of 190 online citizen services such as – Application for New Ration Card, Application for Separate Ration Card, Application for Duplicate Ration Card, Application for Ration Card Member guardian, Domicile Certificate, Senior Citizen Certificate, Character Certificate, Caste Certificate.

Gujarat through various innovative developments in technology has transformed governance. The state has been in the forefront in setting up such initiatives like SWAGAT, Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) , Apno Taluka Vibrant Taluka (ATVT), e-Kamin and eGujCop. Through Geographic Information System (GIS), decision support and convergence in various sectors such as Health, Agriculture, Education, Water and Land Management has been achieved in the state. By using satellite technology the state has mainstreamed remote areas and facilitated distant interactive training. The state has extensively used social media for citizen engagement to get ideas in policy formulation and implementation. 

After achieving a Digital State in Gujarat, the Prime Minister is all set to build a Digital Nation in India.  Digital India is an Umbrella Programme – covering many departments. It weaves together a large number of ideas and thoughts into a single, comprehensive vision so that each of them is seen as part of a larger goal. The each element of Digital India will have its unique identity but it will also be part of a larger picture.

The programme will be coordinated by Department of Electronics and Information Technology and will be implemented in phases from the current year till 2018. It is expected that the Digital India programme will have projects worth Rs One Lakh crores. The programme will pull together many existing schemes which will be restructured and refocused.

The vision of Digital India is centered around three areas which include digital infrastructure as a utility to every citizen; governance & services on demand and digital empowerment of citizens.

Digital India aims to provide the much needed thrust to the nine pillars of growth, namely Broadband Highways; Universal Access to Mobile Connectivity; Public Internet Access Programme; e-Governance: Reforming Government through Technology; e-Kranti - Electronic Delivery of Services; Information for All; Electronics Manufacturing; IT for Jobs and Early Harvest Programmes.
